The Bark River Mini Canadian is one of the most popular small knives from the Bark River range. At first glance you might think: what a strange-looking knife. Such a long handle with a short blade and such a strange middle. We understand. However, when you hold it you immediately understand what makes the Mini Canadian so special.
Ergonomically speaking this knife is namely close to perfect. The large handle and the finger grooves ensure that you have enough grip. Your hand is located closely to the edge to make sure you have a lot of control over the knife. And the large ricasso, the flat part in between the handle and the blade, ensures that you can hold it in many different ways. You use the Bark River Mini Canadian for EDC or hunting purposes. It is a simple, but very effective and usable knife.
Please note: we often measure the blade from the front of the handle to the blade. In this case 7.4 cm. We would, however, also like to mention that the blade itself (the part enhanced with the grind) is 5.4 cm long.
The blade is made from CPM 3V-steel. A tool steel that is known for its exceptional strength. As such it won’t break and will retain its sharpness well. You do, however, need to be careful with moisture and acids: CPM 3V is not completely stainless. So clean it after use and occasionally add a drop of oil to keep this knife in great shape. The edge has been enhanced with a convex grind which you can [maintain by stropping it](/en/ct/stropping.htm).
The handle is made from micarta. A strong and light-weight material, made from linen and synthetic resin. Feels comfortable in hand, even in wet or cold circumstances.
The Bark River Mini Canadian comes with a leather belt sheath (max. belt width 4.0 cm).
Bark River makes all of its knives almost completely by hand. As such each knife is unique. Especially when you are working with natural materials a knife can differ from the photographs. The knife you receive can therefore be subtly different from the product photos. The model and type of material, however, will always be the same.
